US delegation due in Dhaka Sunday
12 December 2015, Nirapad News: A three-member delegation of US, led by Counselor of the Department of State Thomas Shannon, will arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday (December 13) on a two-day visit.
Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal and Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Manpreet Singh Anand will accompany Shannon.
In Bangladesh, Ambassador Shannon will meet with senior government and parliamentary leaders, as well as media, civil society, and labor representatives and will visit a USAID-funded healthcare clinic.
According to media note of US Department of State, Shannon’s trip will highlight the strength and durability of the US-Bangladesh relationship and continued gains to be made in security, trade, development, the environment, and countering violent extremism.
Later, Thomas Shannon along with Manpreet Singh Anand will travel to Sri Lanka December 14-16.
In Sri Lanka, Ambassador Shannon will meet with senior government and parliamentary leaders, business leaders, and civil society, as well as tour a USAID-funded livelihoods project in the Eastern Province.
During his visit, Shannon will reaffirm US support for Sri Lanka’s reform agenda and explore greater cooperation in development, security, economic growth, and regional connectivity.
