US Embassy celebrates Bangldesh’s victory
21 February 2015, Nirapad News: The US Embassy in Bangladesh has celebrated the victory of the Tigers in their debut match of the World Cup Cricket 2015.
Embassy authorities have posted two photos on their official website on Thursday, congratulating the Bangladesh cricket team for their victory against the Afghan cricket team in Thursday’s World Cup match.
In the pictures, the newly-appointed ambassador, Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, Deputy Chief of Mission David Meale, and the US Embassy staff are seen wearing official World Cup jerseys of the Bangladesh team.
The ambassador and her deputy chief of the mission also carried Ty-stripes-tiger soft toys and the flag of Bangladesh. The full team were seen showing the victory sign, wishing the Tigers much success.
The post got rapid responses from fans of the Bangladesh cricket team around the globe. A total of 57,728 people liked it, 673 commented, while 1,167 shared the post.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Bangladesh team restricted Afghanistan to 162, to claim a 105-run victory at their opening encounter at Manuka Oval in Canberra, Australia.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza decided to bat first against Afghanistan on a Manuka Oval wicket that has the reputation of being very flat.
This was Afghanistan’s first World Cup match, as they become the 13th Associate Nation to make their debut at the tournament, while Bangladesh opened their fifth campaign.
