War crimes trial, Mujahid asks lawyers to file review plea
20 June 2015, Nirapad News: Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid asked his lawyers to file a petition to review the Appellate Division verdict that upheld his death sentence for war crimes in 1971.
He made the advice during a meeting with a five-member team of his lawyers at the Dhaka Central Jail Saturday morning.
The team members include Advocates Shishir Monir, Mashiul Alam, Kamal Uddin, Nazibur Rahman and Motiur Rahman Akand.
They entered the jail around 11:05am and talked with their client nearly about one hour.
Shishir Monir at jail gate told reporters that we have an option to file a review petition within 15 days of the publication of the full verdict. Our client suggested us to file petition with the stipulated time.
Mujahid also asked them to meet him after publication of the full verdict, Shishir added.
Earlier on June 16, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence to Mujahid for his crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971.
