War Criminal Kamaruzzaman’s review petition hearing on March 9
08 March 2015, Nirapad News: Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and death-row war crimes convict Mohammad Kamaruzzaman’s hearing on the review petition of will be held on March 9.
Supreme Court chamber judge Hasan Foyez Siddique fixed the date of hearing on Sunday.
An Appellate Division Bench of Supreme Court comprising four justices led by Chief Justice SK Sinha will hear the petition.
Kamaruzzaman now on death row-filed the petition on March 5 seeking to review the Appellate Division judgment upholding the death sentence awarded by the trial court for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
On May 9, 2013, the International Crimes Tribunal -2 condemned Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general M Kamaruzzaman, a 1971 operator of infamous Al Badr vigilante outfit, to death for his crimes against humanity, including murder, abduction, torture, rape and mass killing during the Liberation War.
