War criminal SQ Chy’s burial held

22 November 2015, Nirapad News: Amid tight security, war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury has been buried at Gahira, his ancestral home, of Raozan upazila in Chittagong on Sunday morning.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at the yard of ‘Baitul Billal, his village home, this morning.

Hefajat-e-Islam nayeb-e-ameer Mohibullah Babugari conducted the janaza of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, who had been executed for his crimes against humanity, early hours of Sunday.

Earlier, an ambulance, carrying SQ Chowdhury’s body, the body of the war criminal reached Gahira of Raozan upazila around 9:00am amid police security.

Salauddin walked the gallows at 12:55am for his crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971.

The ambulance carrying the body came out of the Dhaka Central Jail gates at 2:53 am.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the convict sought presidential clemency on his death penalty. The mercy petition reached the Bangabhaban in the evening.

Later, home minister informed the media that the president has rejected the clemency plea.

On November 18, rejecting the review petition of SQ Chy, the Appellate Division of Supreme Court upheld the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) death penalty to the convict.
