Week-long Victory Fair begins in Rangpur
10 December 2015, Nirapad News: A week-long Victory Day Fair-2015 began from today at Proyash Entertainment Park in Nisbetganj area to present unprecedented heroism of the Bengali nation and history of the War of Liberation before the younger generations.
The Rangpur Cantonment authority has been organising the fair with assistance of local administrations at Nisbetganj on the Ghaghot riverbank where some 600 heroic Bengalis embraced martyrdom while gheraoing the cantonment on Mach 28 in 1971.
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant Freedom Fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu formally inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon at a colourful ceremony there.
The City Mayor along with high officials also visited different stalls set up in the fair.
Station Commander of Rangpur Cantonment Brigadier General Shams, Colonel Neyamul Islam Fatemi, military officials, City Councilors, freedom fighters, civil society members, socio-cultural activists and elite were present.
Different organisations including Bangladesh Army, district administration, Muktijoddha Sangshad, district police, Bangladesh Border Guard and Ansar-VDP have set up 20 stalls in the fair that will conclude on December 16 next.
The stalls have been displaying the anti-British movements, history of struggles for independence and War of Libertarian from 1948 to 1971 and national developments achieved since the post independence period through pictorial and documentary presentations.
Various attractive sport facilities for the children have been made available there in the fair.
