Woman hacked to death by son in Kurigram

11 May 2015, Nirapad News: A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her drug-addicted son at Dhononjoy village of Rajarhat upazila on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Sokina begum, 65, wife of Ahmmad Ali, a resident of the village.

Family members said Sokina’s drug addicted son Robiul Islam demanded money from Sokina in the evening. As Sakina refused to give the money, Rabiul locked into an altercation with her. At one stage, Robiul hacked his mother with a spade, leaving her dead on the spot. Robiul went into hiding after the incident.

On information, police recovered the body. Andur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Rajarhat Police Station, confirmed the incident.
