Women’s rights ensured in 1972 constitution: Syed Ashraf
12 March 2015, Nirapad News: All human and fundamental rights for women have been ensured in the country’s 1972 constitution, said Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Syed Ashraful Islam. He said Bangladesh is ahead of the countries like India, Nepal and Pakistan in implantation of the women’s rights.
Syed Ashraful Islam said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and a reception accorded to self-reliant women personalities in different sectors of LGED (Local Government Engineering Division) at LGED Bhaban at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the city marking the International Women’s Day. The minister said the private sector should come forward in implementing the women’s rights.
At the function, nine successful self-reliant women personalities in different sectors of LGED were accorded a reception and handed over with cash awards.
LGED chief engineer Shyama Prosad Adhikari presided over the function, attended by Local Government Division secretary Abdul Malek as the special guest while LGED Gender and Development Forum president additional chief engineer Md Abul Kalam Azad and Forum secretary general Syeda Asma Khatun also spoke in it, according to a PID handout.
