Work on Taka 7.5-crore modern gateway at Benapole progressing
14 May 2016, Nirapad News: A modern and attractive gateway is being built at the entry point on Benapole frontier in Jessore district to welcome hundreds of tourists from India,Nepal and Bhutan to Bangladesh every day.
The sophisticated archway is being built at Amrakhali under Benapole municipality at a cost of Taka about 7.50 crore under the ‘Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund’.
The 144-feet gate complex will have a toll plaza, exhibition hall, a two storey guest house,one modern restaurant, coffee house, public toilet, car parking lot, mini-park and handicraft stalls for women.
Construction of the gateway began in November 2015 is expected to be completed by November this year, said Rafiqul Islam, secretary of Benapole Municipality, the executing authority of gateway complex.
Ashraful Alam Liton, mayor of Benapole Municipality, said the gateway is being built considering the economic and geographical importance of Benapole land port.
