Writ for judicial probe of Tangail clash
21 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: A writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking its directive to form a judicial body to probe into the police-locals clash in Tangail that killed four people.
An HC vacation bench of Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Jafar Ahmed Monday set September 30 as the date of hearing of the petition.
Advocate Faozia Karim Firoj, on behalf of Bangladesh Mahila Ainjibir Samity, filed the petition.
Home Secretary, inspector general of police (IGP), Dhaka Range DIG, Tangail DC and SP, Kalihati thana officer-in-charge and two others were made defendant the writ petition.
Advocate Salma Ali moved for the petition that sought a judicial inquiry commission led-by a retired judge.
On September 18, three people were killed in a clash between locals and police while protesting against the alleged rape of a woman in front of her son.
Later, another died at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.
