‘Youth’ dominates European Film Academy awards
13 December 2015, Nirapad News: Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s comedy-drama “Youth” was named best movie at the European Film Awards in Berlin on Saturday, while British actors Michael Caine and Charlotte Rampling were also honoured.
“Youth” dominated the 28th edition of the awards, with Sorrentino being named best director and Caine winning for best actor. The film, whose star-studded cast includes Harvey Keitel, Jane Fonda and Rachel Weisz along with Caine, tells the story of two best friends reflecting on their lives while on holiday.
Rampling, meanwhile, won best actress for her role in “45 Years”, which follows a married couple ahead of their 45th wedding anniversary. She was also honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
The European Film Academy, founded in 1988, is made up of more than 3,000 people in the movie industry and aims to promote the continent’s film culture.
