Health Minister Zahid Maleque has informed that that those who received the first shots of Covid-19 vaccine were doing well and that helped removing vaccine phobia.

“Panic over vaccination was removed to a greater extent. Those unable to get registered for vaccination through app, can do it in the vaccination centres. Those received the vaccine are now doing well,” he said.

The minister said this while visiting a vaccination centre at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the city on Thursday.

The Health Ministry rolled out the vaccination programme at five government hospitals in Dhaka on Thursday, a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s pilot inoculation programme.

BSMMU Vice Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua kicked off the programme in the morning by getting a shot of Covishield, the Oxford-AstraZeneca-developed vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

State minister for ICT Junayed Ahmed Palak, state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid, health secretary Abdul Mannan and some renowned physicians have already received the vaccine today.
