Vested quarter fishing in troubled waters over Mushtaq’s death: Quader

Terming the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed very painful, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has alleged that a vested quarter is trying to fish in troubled waters over the issue.

“The incident of death is under investigation. But, a vested quarters if trying trying to fish in troubled waters over an under-investigation matter. A probe body has already been formed. The reason of death will be revealed after investigation,” he said.

Obaidul Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up with the comments while inaugurating the special service week organised by The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority on Sunday. He joined virtually the inaugural ceremony of the event from his residence.

“The government believes in freedom of expression. Freedom does not mean that people have the right to say whatever they want. Showing respect to other’s opinion is also considered to be freedom of expression.”

The government is remain alert over the use of the law (the Digital Security Act), he said adding that it is necessary to remain vigilant so that no individual or organisation can misuse the law.
