World leaders will join different programmes in Bangladesh between March 17-26 marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of Bangladesh’s Independence that might hamper traffic in the city to some extent.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged the city dwellers to leave homes early during the period to avoid traffic congestion.

DMP acting commissioner came up with the call in a press conference held on Sunday.

He informed that five heads of state and government will join various programmes marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of Bangladesh’s Independence.

“Vehicular movement is being hampered due to massive development works on city roads. Under the circumstances, movement of foreign guests may also cause traffic congestion on some roads. So, I urge the city dwellers to leave their homes bit ahead for reaching their respective destinations timely,” said the police official.
