The coronavirus situation is taking an alarming turn in the country with the numbers of cases is on rise.
Bangladesh on Tuesday reported 3,554 cases in last 24 hours, taking the total ceases to 5,77,241, with the positivity rate of 13.69 per cent. The number doubled in just four days.
During this timeline, 18 deaths were reported, taking the total death toll to 8,738.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Today afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 1,835 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,25,994.
Among the newly deceased, 12 were male and six female. Of them, 14 are from Dhaka, and three from Chattogram, and one from Rangpur division.
The infection rate is 6.62 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the .
So far, the overall infection rate is 12.94 per cent the recovery rate is 91.12 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.52 per cent.
China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 27,37,463 people globally and infected 12,43,76,617 as of today afternoon.
