Health Ministry asks 5 hospitals to be ready to tackle new surge of Covid

Amid the rise of Covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry has instructed five hospitals in the capital to take necessary steps to tackle the new surge of the virus cases.

A release was issued in this regard on Monday.

The hospitals are: Lalkuthi Hospital in Mirpur, Dhaka Mohanagar Hospital in Babubazar, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, DNCC Corona Isolation Centre in Mohakhali and Government Employee Hospital in Fulbaria.

Last year, the five hospitals have been turned into dedicated corona isolation hospitals to treat patients infected with the virus.

Later, health services have been opened for other patients following a decrease in Covid-19 cases.

The government has again gave directives to kept the hospital ready amid the alarming rise in coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, in another order, Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute has been asked to open medical services for the coronavirus patients.

According to a health bulletin, issued by the DGHS on Monday, only five beds, out of 2,349, remain empty in the ICU of the government hospital’s in the capital.

In Chittagong, only 21 ICU beds out of 687, in both government and private hospital are empty.
