Trains to carry passengers at half capacity from April 1

Bangladesh Railway has decided that trains will carry passengers at half capacity from April 1 to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The railway confirmed the matter in its official Facebook page on Tuesday.

It said the decision has been taken to ensure the health guidelines of the passengers following the sharp rise of coronavirus in the country.

Fifty per cent tickets will be sold at all stations. Of those, 25 per cent will be sold at counters and rest per cent through online. The counters will not be allowed to sell tickets without seat.

The authorities requested all no to gather at counters. Wearing mask is mandatory for the passengers. They will no be permitted to enter train or travel without mask.
