Medical admission test held ignoring health guidelines outside centers

Entrance admission test for medical colleges was held on Friday amid the alarming increase of coronavirus cases across the country. In the ongoing coronavirus situation, it was supposed to take the test in accordance with the health guidelines, but it was not implemented.

Though the candidates took part in the examination wearing masks but there was huge gathering outside the exam centers. Social distance was totally seen ignored because of the crowd of examinees and their relatives. This scenario was commonly seen outside the test centers before and after the medical admission test.

The MBBS admission test for the academic year 2020-21 has been held in 55 venues of 19 examination centers of the country. The examination starts at 10.00 am on Friday and ends at 11.00am.

About 122,761 candidates applied to take part in this examination. Of them, 47,000 candidates took part in the examination in 15 centers of Dhaka city.

During visit to several test centers in the capital, it was found that candidates and their guardians started gathering in front of the test centers a couple of hours before the start of the examination.

At that time there was no social distance between them. Students have to push the crowd through the gate of the center and entered the center by pushing and shoving. Facility to wash or sanitize hands with soap while entering the center was proved useless.
