Country’s largest corona hospital to start functioning soon in Mohakhali

Amid growing demands of hospital’s ICU supports for the Covid patients, the government is turning the Dhaka North City Corporation kitchen market in Mohakhali as the country’s largest coronavirus dedicated hospital with 100 incentive care unit (ICU) beds.

The makeshift hospital will also facilitate with 1,000 general and 122 high dependency unit (HDU) beds.

Health Ministry sources said infrastructure and machinery set up works have already been completed and the hospital will start giving services in mid April. It will be fully functional in last part of April.

Talking to media, Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, director of the hospital, said, “Hopefully, we’ll start the operation partially with 250 general and some ICU beds. Only coronavirus patients will get treatment here No surgery will be conducted here.”

The 1.,80,560 square feet empty market is being used as an isolation centre and corona testing lab for the international passengers.

The DNCC mayor Atiqul Islam, during a visit to the market on August 9 last year, declared to turn it to a 500-bed urban hospital.
