Govt starts selling meat, milk, egg through mobile stalls

Fisheries and Livestock Ministry has initiated to sell meat, milk and egg through mobile stalls in the coronavirus situation.

A press release issued by the ministry on Wednesday, said selling of meat, milk and egg was started today at a reduced rate through mobile stalls.

Earlier on Tuesday, Minister SM Rezaul Karim said in the coronavirus situation, there was no bar to transport emergency food items during the government announced lockdown.

Meat, milk and egg are essential commodities and also perishable. So, there is no bar to produce, transport and marketing of those items, he added.

According to the sources in the ministry, the mobile stalls today sold 1,200 liters milk in Mirpur- 10, Dhanmondi and Khamarbari.

The ministry has sold milk, eggs, fish and chicken worth Tk 9,000 crore through mobile stalls across the country last year.
