The Bangladesh government has sent a letter to China for purchasing coronavirus vaccine, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Tuesday.

He also informed that initially 4-5 crore doses of vaccine have been sought.

The minister revealed the information after supplying medicine and medical equipment to Nepal for Covid-19 treatment at the state guest house Padma in the capital in the morning.

“No state or country could come out alone from the pandemic. The rich state will get the vaccine, but, the poorer not… it cannot happen,” he added.

Meanwhile, China’s gift of 5 lakh doses of Sinopharm’s Covid vaccine is on way to Bangladesh. The Chinese embassy in Dhaka informed this on Monday.
