Next budget will also have scope of whitening black money

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that the proposed National Budget for the 2021-22 fiscal will be for the common people.

The government will also give an opportunity to whiten the black money in the proposed budget for the next 2021-22 fiscal year.

He made the comments in response to a question from reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement on Wednesday.

The finance minister said the next budget will also have the opportunity to whiten black money for the sake of economy. As long as there is an undisclosed income, there will be this opportunity.

Earlier on March 24, Mustafa Kamal said: “It can’t be said now whether things that are present at the moment will remain the same in the budget. You will get to know those during budget in parliament in June.”

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, 7,445 individuals whitened Tk 10,220 crore by paying Tk 950 crore as tax, according to data from the National Board of Revenue.

The minister further said that the new budget will be a budget of firm conviction to build a new Bangladesh by overcoming coronavirus.

Regarding the vaccine, Mustafa Kamal said that the Ministry of Health has a deficit in preparing for emergency procurement in Coronavirus pandemic. The government is working to fill that gap.
