Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam on Monday said local administration can impose partial of complete lockdown in any district if coronavirus situation worsens there.
Clear instructions have been given to the local administration in this regard, said the Cabinet Secretary while briefing journalists after a virtual Cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
“The DCs, civil surgeons, chairmen and mayors have already been told that they can enforce lockdown if the situation would be harmful in any place,” said Anwarul Islam.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting from Ganabhaban and the ministers from the Cabinet Division.
The national technical advisory committee of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has recommended lockdown in seven bordering districts.
Earlier, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said the ministry will recommend to bring any place under lockdown if infection rate increases there.
