Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has expressed the apprehension that coronavirus transmission will increase across the country because of the relaxation of restrictions of the all-out lockdown ahead of Eid-ul-Azha festival.

Professor Dr Robed Amin, DGHS spokesman and line director, expressed the apprehension in the regular bulletin of the DGHS on Wednesday afternoon.

He said there is a possibility of increasing the transmission due to the relaxation of restrictions of lockdown for eight days ahead of the Eid. There is no possibility of transmission going down if the health guidelines are not followed properly in the public transports, shopping malls and cattle markets which will resume operation on the occasion of Eid.

Cautioning the countrymen, he said despite constant efforts it would not be possible to bring down the rate of infection unless the use of masks in the cattle markets could be ensured 100 per cent. “S, we also called upon the law enforcing agencies to ensure the following of health guidelines strictly,” he said.
