Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has urged the government again to reopen factories amid the ongoing lockdown.
They made the demand at a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam on Thursday.
After the meeting, BGMEA president Farruq Hasan told media that they requested to reopen the factories with those employees, who are now in Dhaka.
“Whenever we will get permission from the government for reopening the factories, then the other workers and employees will be asked to come to the capital from their respective villages,” he added.
Farruq Hasan said “We met the Cabinet Secretary with the proposal not only for the garments, but also for all industries in the country. Though the factories are remain closed from July 18/19, so there create a shortage in supply chain. We too urged to keep the factories out of this lockdown order.”
During the meeting, Khandaker Anwarul said the business community that he will consult the matter with the Prime Minister, he added.
