The Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) has recommended continuation of the ongoing lockdown across the country considering the surges of coronavirus infection.

Professor ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the DGHS, informed media about the matter on Friday.

“In the Cabinet meeting 10 days before, we’ve recommended to continue the lockdown. Although no decision has yet been given in this regard. The infection rate is rising sharply, how can we tackle the situation, where can we accommodate patients in the hospital?” he asked.

“The situation will be worsened if the infection rises in the current a rate. Considering the overall situation, we suggested extension of the restriction,” he added.

A two-week strict lockdown is going on across the country including the capital to prevent transmission of the deadly coronavirus infection. The restrictions will be continued till August 5.
