10 lakh more Pfizer vaccine doses to arrive on August 30

A consignment of another 10 lakh doses of Pfizer COVID vaccine under the COVAX will arrive Dhaka on August 30.

A flight of Qatar Airways is scheduled to reach at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital around 7:15pm with the vaccine, gifted by the US.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and US Ambassador Earl R Miller will receive the Pfizer vaccine at the airport.

Health Service Department’s information and public relation officer Md Maidul Islam confirmed the news on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Health Minister confirmed the media that another 60 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine would be arrived from the United States in September. As part of that vaccine doses, this 10 lakh dose of vaccine is coming to the country on August 30.

Bangladesh started administering the first doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at three centres in Dhaka to fight off COVID-19 on June 21.
