If PM instructs, we can reopen schools tomorrow: State Minister

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain has said if the Prime Minister gives instructions, they can reopen the government primary schools tomorrow.

“We have all the preparations to reopen the schoola. The situation is being monitored at the moment. If the Prime Minister gives instructions, we can reopen the government primary schools tomorrow,” said the state minister in response to a question from reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Zakir Hossain said, “We have made preparations to reopen government primary schools. The schools have been cleaned. Our teachers are going to school. We are runing online and offline education activities. Classes are being held on Parliament TV.”

“Even though the schools are closed, our students are being taught. They are being given worksheets,” he added.

Asked when the school would reopen, the state minister said, “It will take high-level instructions from the government to reopen the schools. The school cannot be reopened in a hurry in this situation. The Prime Minister, the cabinet, the health experts will all decide together.”

He added, “Specialists are giving their opinion on opening the school. Our children have not been able to go to school for a long year and a half. They are being involved in various activities.”

Zakir said, “We are facing some disturbs online. Students are getting involved in various bad games. The kids in my area are addicted to sports all day. Child marriage has increased in remote char areas as schools are closed.”
