Another 1 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to arrive Dhaka today

Bangladesh is set to receive another one million doses of Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday under the Covax facility.

The consignment, gifted from the USA, is scheduled to reach Hazrat Shahzalal International Airport at 5pm on a Qatar Airways flight, Maidul Islam Prodhan, the Public Relation Officer of Health and Family Welfare Ministry, confirmed.

The Health Minister Zahid Maleque and the US ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller will receive the doses at the airport.

Previously, these doses were scheduled to reach on Monday (30 August).

On 23 August, Zahid Maleque informed six million more doses of Pfizer vaccine will reach Bangladesh as a gift from the USA.

This consignment is the first one of the six million. The rest will arrive within September, the minister added.

Bangladesh approved Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine on 27 May this year for emergency use and vaccination program of Pfizer was started at three hospitals in the capital from June 21.
