41 COVID-19 deaths, 1,953 new cases

Bangladesh on Monday reported 1,953 COVID-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 41 lives.

The country reported 7.69 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 25,388 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

The official tally showed the virus killed 26,972 people and infected 15,32,366 so far, it added.

Besides, the recovery rate rose to 96.77% with the recovery of 4,112 more people.

Meanwhile, the case fatality rate remained unchanged at 1.76 per cent compared to the corresponding period.
The country has been seeing 53 deaths and 2,279 cases on average for the last seven days.

This indicates that the pandemic in Bangladesh is easing after the highest-ever 264 coronavirus-related deaths in August and 16,230 single-day cases in July this year.
