Expatriates have protested at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital demanding Pfizer, Moderna coronavirus vaccines. They blocked the road in front of the hospital in the morning demanding vaccination. The traffic on the road was stopped.
At one stage of the demonstration, the police removed from their roads. Later, five representative from expatriates and police officials discussed an hour with the director of the hospital. The expatriates are still continuing their protest.
The expatriates said they have come to get the vaccine after receiving the message. But there is no supply of the first dose of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Meanwhile, the visa tenure is coming to an end, they are worried about what will they do now. We spent a lot of money and came from the village for vaccination.
The hospital director Dr Md Khalilur Rahman told the expatriates that they do not have Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
“We are providing vaccination programme with Sinopharm vaccine. If we don’t get these vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna), how will we give you? If you take Sinopharm vaccine, we can give it now. We only have Moderna vaccine for the second dose,” said the director.
Meanwhile, the police said they are trying to convince the expatriates about the speech of director about vaccine. But they are not obeying in any way. They are protesting in the hospital.
