26 Covid deaths,1,555 fresh cases

Bangladesh on Monday reported 1,555 COVID-19 cases while the virus claimed overnight 26 lives.

The country reported 5.67 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 27,431samples were tested in the past 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

The new deaths took the country’s total Covid-19 toll to 27,251, while the caseload mounted to 1,544,238.

The recovery count rose to 15,03,106 after another 1,565 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.34 percent recovered, while 1.76 percent died.

The DGHS said among the total 27,251 fatalities, 11,866 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5,513 in Chattogram, 2012 in Rajshahi, 3,535 in Khulna, 930 in Barishal, 1,231 in Sylhet, 1,341 in Rangpur and 823 in Mymensingh division.
