25 Covid deaths, 818 new cases

Bangladesh on Saturday reported 818 COVID-19 cases, the lowest in four months, while the coronavirus claimed overnight 25 lives.

The number of single-day Covid cases was recorded below 1,000 in May 17 last, logging 698 cases.

The country reported 4.59 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 17,818 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

In the past 24 hours, the combined figure of coronavirus in Dhaka city and upazilas of Dhaka district is 514 while 11 COVID-19 deaths were reported during the same period.

The official tally showed the virus killed 27,393 people and infected 15,50,371 so far, it added.

The recovery count rose to 15,10,167 after another 965 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.41 percent recovered, while 1.77 percent died.

The DGHS said among the total 27,393 fatalities, 11,937 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5,546 in Chattogram, 2,019 in Rajshahi, 3,547 in Khulna, 930 in Barishal, 1,241 in Sylhet, 1,347 in Rangpur and 826 in Mymensingh division.
