An army personnel was killed in a road accident at Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj district early Monday.
Deceased Shamim Akhter, 32, was a lance corporal posted at Alikadam Cantonment in Rangamati district. He was the son of Nazrul Islam, a resident of Gangaram village under Ataikula Police Station in Pabna.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Abdullahil Baki said Shamim was returning home from Bogura district town by a motorcycle.
The vehicle turned turtle falling into a hole and soon after a Pabna-bound truck hit it on the Dhaka-Pabna highway in Boalia area, leaving the bike rider dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib 250-bed General Hospital morgue, the SI added.
