Two people, including a woman, were killed in a road crash at Bongpur intersection under Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district last night.
The deceased were identified as Sultana, 40, wife of Anwar Hossain of Nungola village under Rohonpur municipality of Chapainawabganj district and Mehedi Hasan, 38, son of Ketabuddin of Aganagar village under Dhamoirhat upazila in Naogaon district.
Police and local sources said a Rohonpur-bound Mahindra auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a tractor coming from the opposite direction at around 8 pm.
Being informed, firefighters from local Fire Service Department rushed to the spot and took the critically injured passengers to the upazila health complex, where the doctor on-duty declared them dead.
Officer in charge (OC) of Gomostapur thana Dilip Kumar Das confirmed the matter.
