Govt to import 16 lakh mts crude oil, 58.50 lakh mts refined oil

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday approved two separate proposals in principle for importing some 16 lakh metric tons of crude oil and 58.50 lakh metric tons of refined oil for the year 2022 to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approval came from the 31st meeting of the CCEA this year held today virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair, BSS reports.

Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin said that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import 16 lakh metric tons of crude oil for this year from Saudi ARAMCO and ADNOC, Abu Dhabi under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM).

He also informed that BPC under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import another 58.50 lakh metric tons of refined fuel oil also for this year.
