Bangladesh detects Omicron COVID cases

Two Bangladesh female cricketers returned from Zimbabwe have tested positive for Omicron variant of coronavirus.

This is the first time that Omicron variant has been detected in the country.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque stated it to media on Saturday.

The two cricketers came positive for the virus variant after their blood samples were tested.

An official of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said, “The female cricketers are doing well. Mild symptoms of the variant are found on their bodies. They are under close observation.”
