Indian President in Dhaka

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind is now in Dhaka on a three-day state visit to attend the 50th Victory Day celebrations of Bangladesh

This is his maiden visit to Bangladesh after taking over as president of India.

Dhaka rolled out the red carpet to welcome Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

President Abdul Hamid alongwith his wife received his Indian counterpart with bouquets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

A special Indian Airlines flight carrying Kovind and his entourage members landed at 11:10 am (BST) at the airport.

The First Lady of India, the daughter of the Indian President, Minister of State for Education, two Members of Parliament, the Indian Foreign Secretary and other high-ranking officials from various departments are accompanying the Indian President.

Maintaining the health guidelines due to pandemic situation, the Indian President was given an honour guard with 21-gun salute by a smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force there.

The visiting delegation members also followed health rules, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, on the occasion.

Ram Nath Kovind will leave Dhaka for Delhi on Friday noon.
