Prices of edible oil fixed

The government has fixed the prices of edible oil to keep stable the price of the unrefined soybean and palm oil under control.

Commerce minister Tipu Munshi came up with the disclosure at a press briefing on Wednesday after a meeting of the National Committee on Marketing and Distribution of Essential Commodities at the Commerce Ministry.

The new prices would be effective immediately, said the commerce minister adding that the prices have been fixed after discussions with the importers and traders.

“The government fixed the new price following the price hike of edible oil in the international market.Ninety percent of oil that we consume are imported. The prices of edible oil would be revised on the local market if the prices of edible oil were changed on the international markets,he added.

The minister said the price of per litre loose soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 115 for consumer while Tk 110 distributor and Tk 107 for the mill gate.

On the other hand, the price of per litre bottled soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 135 for consumer while Tk 127 for distributor and Tk 123 at the mill gate.

Price of palm oil was fixed at Tk 104 per litre at the consumer level, Tk 98 at the distributor level and Tk 95 at mill gate.
