At least 17 people were killed and several injured in a triangular collision between a bus, microbus and leguna in Katakhali of Rajshahi city on Friday.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Golam Ruhul Quddus said 11 died on the spot while six others succumbed to their injuries after taking Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The death toll from the accident may rise, the police official said.
Eyewitnesses said a bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ collided with a microbus and a human hauler at about 2:15pm.
The cylinder of the microbus exploded after the collision and the leguna also caught fire with that, police said.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Members of Fire Service and Civil Defence are involved in rescue operation.
