Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity has demanded the reopening all shops, shopping malls and small businesses after August 5. The government has imposed a strict lockdown across the country till August 5 to check the spread of deadly Covid-19.
Leaders of the organization made the demand at a press conference held at its office at New Market in the capital on Sunday.
Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity President Helal Udding said, “Shops had been closed for a total of 270 days since the corona outbreak began in 2020. In all, traders have lost Tk 27 lakh crore in the last one and a half years.”
With the reopening of the shops after 5 August, Dokan Malik Samity also made four demands. These include providing vaccinations across the country, deploying law enforcement agencies to ensure mask wear, and providing cash incentives to affected traders.
According to the organiztion, there are 55 lakh small and micro businesses in Bangladesh. There are more than two crore employees in this sector. In this situation, just as they are being harmed, others in this sector are also being harmed.
