Two killed, six injured in Jashore road crash

Two people, including a three-wheeler driver, were killed and six others injured in a road accident in front of Kazi Nazrul Islam Degree College on the Jashore-Jhenaidah highway in Haibotpur area under Sadar upazila of the district last night.

The deceased were identified as Ruhul Amin, 35, son of Abdul Motaleb and also a three-wheeler driver and Md. Yusuf Ali, 45, son of Abdul Kader both are residents of Arappur area in Jhenaidah.

Monowar Hossain, who was admitted in the hospital, said the accident occurred when a goods-laden truck hit a three-wheeler carrying seven people from behind in the area while they were returning home from Jashore. The three-wheeler fell on the road and overturned, leaving Yusuf Ali dead on the spot, he added.

The wounded were taken to Jashore 250-bed hospital where three-wheeler driver Ruhul Amin succumbed to his injuries.

Two people killed and six others were admitted at the hospital in a critical condition, said Jasim Uddin, an emergency unit doctor of Jashore General Hospital.
