A female college student was killed in a bike accident in the capital’s Mirpur area early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Samanta Alam Yuthi, 19, daughter of Nurul Islam Tipu, a resident of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj. Juthi, a second-year student of UCEP Institute of Science and Technology in the capital, lived in a rented house with her family in Diabari area.
Police said she got off from the bus at Majar road after completing her college picnic from Cumilla at around 1:00am. Later, she was returning home on her friend’s bike.
After crossing some distance, she fell off from the bike as its driver lost his control over the steering on the road, leaving the duo injured.
Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, Darus Salam Police Station sub-inspector Aminul Islam said.
