All long route buses from Dhaka suspended till June 30

All long route buses from the capital city will remain suspended from Tuesday 6.00am to June 30 midnight. This decision has been taken in light of the Cabinet Division’s notification.

Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general secretary of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, confirmed the information on Monday night.

“The government has announced lockdown in seven districts of Dhaka division. Long route buses ply through these seven districts. Buses cannot go through these districts as lockdown has already imposed. For this reason long distance vehicles will remain suspended,” said Enayet Ullah.

Earlier in the day, the government has imposed restriction on overall activities including public movements in seven districts surrounding to the capital city, from June 22 to 30 due to the spread of coronavirus.

“Considering the COVID-19 infection situation, overall activities/movement including public movements in Manikganj, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Rajbari and Gopalganj districts will remain stopped from 6am on June 22 to midnight of June 30,” said a cabinet division notification.

Stricter lockdown will come into effect from 6 am on June 22 till June 30 midnight in these districts.

The Covid-19 situation in the country is getting worse day by day as 78 more people died in 24 hours till Monday morning with its daily positivity rate hitting 19.27%, the highest in two months.

During the period, 4,636 new cases were detected after the tests of 24,057 samples, said a handout issued by the DGHS.
