A principal of a madrasa was arrested in Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, in a case filed over rape of a student, 10.
Accused Maulana Touhid Bin Azhar, 46, is the principal of two madrasas in Ashulia Khejur Bagan area.
Victim’s father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Ashulia Police Station on Wednesday.
According to the case statement, the principal called the victim in absence of his wife few days ago and violated her.
Later, the victim’s classmates disclosed the matter to the victim’s parents by sending a letter.
Police arrested the accused from Mirpur’s Kafrul Police Station area on Thursday night.
Investigation officer of the case Ashulia Police Station SI Al Mamun said the victim was sent to One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
