A woman and her daughter were killed after a truck smashed an engine-run van at Shalikha upazila in Magura district on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Sharifa Begum, 32, wife of Ibadul Fakir of Pulum village under the upazila, and their seven-month-old daughter Khadija.
Shalikha Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Tarek Bishwas said the truck hit the van carrying Sharifa and her daughter at Junari area at about 9:30am, leaving them dead on the spot.
After recovery, the bodies were sent to Magura Sadar Hospital morgue.
Police, however, seized the killer truck and detained its driver, the OC added.
