4 killed in Cumilla road crashes

Four persons were killed in separate road crashes at Manoharganj and Sadar Dakshin upazilas in Cumilla district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sayma Muntaha, 22, Ruhul Amin, 65, Shefali Akter,55, residents of Shakchail village under Bipulasar union at Manoharganj upazila, and Liton Islam, 55, of Dubachail village under Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria.

Laksam Highway Police Station officer in-charge Maksud Ahmed said a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Ekushey Paribahan’ hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw while overtaking another vehicle in Bipulasar area, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.

Meanwhile, microbus driver Liton was killed when a covered van rammed into his vehicle at Paduar Bazar under Sadar Dakshin upazila.

Moynamoti Highway Police Station sub-inspector Khorshed Alam confirmed the matter.
