A man and his son were killed in a road accident on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway at Balakhal Bazar under Hajiganj upazila of the district last night.
The deceased were identified as Zillur Rahman, 46, and his son Bayezid, 8, residents of Srinagar village under Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
The accident occurred when the man and his son were crossing the road at the same time the speedy pick-up van hit them in Balakhal Bazar at around 8.30pm last night, leaving two seriously injured, said Jobayer Syed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj police station.
The injured were taken to the Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared them dead.
Police seized the pickup van. However, the driver managed to flee, he added.
The bodies have been kept at the Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
