Sale of sacrificial animals start in capital

Cattle traders have started selling sacrificial animals in the city’s makeshift cattle markets on Saturday following health guidelines.

A total of 18 cattle markets, eight including Gabtoli cattle market will be operated by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area and another 10 makeshift including Sarulia cattle market under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) till July 21.

The government, on the other hand, has launched online platform to buy and sell sacrificial animals across the country through the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to check spread of coronavirus infection.

A 14-member monitoring committee has been formed with councillor M Mofizur Rahman of ward no-19 as its chief to monitor the city’s cattle markets. The committee includes 12 councillors and two veterinary officials.

Adequate number of close circuit (CCTV) cameras and temperature scales will be provided to every hat in the capital.
