NISCHA Asia Pacific Conference-2021 held

Five proposals in terms if 5Es for road safety in Bangladesh were presented at the Asia Pacific Conference 2021. The Narrators believe that if these five issues are addressed, road accidents in Bangladesh will be reduced to a great extent. The 5Es are-Education, Enforcement, Engineering, Environment and Evaluation.

The speakers expressed the view that if these five proposals are properly implemented, Bangladesh will be able to improve its road and highways system like the developed world. A keynote was presented on the subject Recommendations for road safety Bangladesh through best practices in Malaysia.

The Asia-Pacific Conference 2021 occurred on 23 October at 7 pm Bangladesh time and 9 pm Malaysia time organized by NISCHA Malaysia Chapter. The conference was attended by NISCHA chapters from Singapore, Japan and Philippines. With overall supervision by the convenor Anupam Paul and co-convenor Zafor Firoze, the chief guest of the event was the founder, chairman of NISCHA and prominent Bangladeshi actor Ilias Kanchan. The keynote of the conference was presented by Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the School of Medicine, Pardana University, Malaysia Dr. Mohammad Nazmul Hasan Maziz; a senior lecturer at the National University of Malaysia Dr. Lubna Alam and the subject matter expert of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia Dr. Azizul Bari.

The keynote presentation was followed by a discussion session. Kazi Mohammad Saifun Newaz, Assistant Professor, Accident Research Institute, BUET; Dr. Mashfikul A Siddique, an orthopaedic surgeon in Singapore; Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman Sheikh, a surgeon from Russia; Secretary General of NISCHA Syed Ehsanul Haque Kamal, Organizing Secretary SM Azad, International Secretary Mirajul Moin Joy and NISCHA Singapore Convener Nazmul Khan participated in the discussion.

The conference was co-presented by Farah Nazia and Dr. Halima Sadia Hakim and chaired by the president of NISCHA Malaysia chapter and National Society Development Coordinator, International Red Crescent, Asia Pacific Ahmed Sami.
